WDW Radio is a travel show in the USA, starring Louis A. Mongello. It is an award-winning online radio show dedicated to celebrate the magic of Walt Disney World. The show began in early 2005 and has since been airing weekly. This show covers WDW news, vacation planning, reviews, facts, trivia, history, contests and features interviews with Disney Imagineers, executives and celebrities. Louis A. Mongello also hosts the WDW NewsCast, a weekly online video broadcast, which covers Walt Disney World news and rumors. It is available immediately after broadcast on the WDW Radio Youtube Channel. The followers of WDW Radio are commonly known as "Box People", a term created by Lou Mongello. WDW Radio is sponsored by touringplans.com.[1]

History

Before WDW Radio

Prior to WDW Radio, Louis A. Mongello was an attorney, IT director and author to books such as "The DJ Handbook: A Complete Manual for the Beginning and Expert DJ" and "Walt Disney World Trivia Books(Volume 1 & 2),[2] as well as audio guides to Walt Disney World.

The Early Years

In early 2005, Louis A. Mongello began podcasting WDW Radio. After only a year, Louis A. Mongello received the Best Travel Podcast Award. He would go onto receive this award 5 years in a row.

Recent Developments

Recently, WDW Radio has advanced into a weekly online broadcast called WDW NewsCast. Also, a companion website has been developed to offer more information and advice about Walt Disney World.

Beginning in 2010, Lou Mongello began publishing a Celebrations Magazine, which covers Disney theme parks and resorts.

WDW NewsCast is a weekly online video broadcast and chat covering Walt Disney World news and rumors where the viewers can interact in the broadcast by voicing their opinions and thoughts in real-time. The show is available immediately after broadcast on the WDW Radio Youtube channel.

This website is a companion to the WDW Radio and features a blog, collection of videos and tours from the Disney parks, reviews, interviews and games. It is also home to one of the internet’s largest Disney online communities and discussion forums.

WDW Radio Disney Book Club

WDW Radio Disney Book Club is a new scheme, which was set up by Lou Mongello to encourage people to read books, especially Disney books.[3]For the first book, Kingdom Keepers IV: Power Play, a special live video chat was held with the author Ridley Pearson.[4]

Celebrations Magazine

Celebrations Magazine is co-published by Louis A. Mongello, the host of WDW Radio. It is a bi-monthly print publication, which covers Disney theme parks & resorts and classic Disney movies.[5]

WDW Radio has won the award for Best Travel Podcast 6 times at the Podcast Awards.[6]

Dream Team Project

This is an initiative set up by Louis A. Mongello.[7] The Dream Team Project is designed for the purpose of raising money to grant the wishes children with serious illnesses to visit Walt Disney World. Portions of the proceeds from the sale of all merchandise sold on WDWRadio.com, as well as personal donations made by Lou Mongello from sales of the Walt Disney World Trivia Books, donations from WDWRadio.com “Family Members” and friends, and the proceeds of special fundraising events run by The Dream Team Project are all used to help make the life of a child a bit brighter during a difficult time for them and their family.[8] As of December 31, 2010 the Dream Team Project has raised over $80,000.
